So I went out Salsa dancing Friday night. It was pretty dang sweet to be honest. It was the first time I had been salsa dancing since WU. Oh what a blast. Little did I know however that the Tram stops running at 12:30 AM I had the option of either walking home, taking a taxi, stealing a car or waiting till the first tram of the morning. I, being the bold and courageuous guy that I am decided to just stay out all night till 5 in the morning. Being the decidedly frugal guy that I am I also decided to buy only one beer that night. We visited quite a few bars. First was our salsa club, the Havana café. We started being the only ones on the dance floor, but after about 45 minutes that place was packed and sweaty. Later that night we ended up at a bar called La Maison. The entire thing was shaped like the inside of a house. You could sit in the bedroom, the kitchen the living room. By 2:30 AM I was painfully sober, knowing that I was not in my bed, the one place I wanted to be at that point. I only had 2 and ½ hours to go to catch the first tram. Most bars in the area close at 2 AM on Friday nights so we made our way over to the well reputed bar in Nantes that is open till 5:30. There is something quite unique about this bar, being which, this bar is a boat on the Loire River. This place was pretty cool, but the tilted belt certainly didn’t not help the drunks walk up the stairs. When I finally made it to the tram at 5:15 AM I was in heaven. So content that I almost fell asleep on the train. Lesson to learn? Walking an hour and a half is much preferable to almost falling asleep every time you sit down. I think next time I will just fall asleep in a park somewhere with a corkscrew in my hand to defend myself.
