Well, I just got back from weekend on retreat at the mercy center in Burlinghame. it is cool to note that they do have nature in california. Coming down here I was worried that it was all imported. I start classes tomorrow. Scary!! I have class from 8 til 12:30 and then i am free till thursday when i do it again. I will then have some 50 hrs of reading or the like. Pray for me. anyway, words of the semester are CLARITY, FREEDOM, INTIMACY, HONESTY, and AUTHENTICITY. ciao for now

Today I re-entered the world of technology and all of it’s 7 hells. I got my laptop cord wish was so great. I thought that was a great blessing. On top of that however, I also got into the old testament class I wanted, and when I did go to buy the books, because I had talked with the lady earlier in the week, she gave me one of the books for free. Very cool huh? Then I go back to the JSTB to try and get a book list for another of the classes, when I am told that my ipod came in. I come back and try to get installed on my computer before mass. No luck, but no worries. I go off to mass and thank god for all that has been given to me, material and otherwise. I met some really cool students today from the JSTB and I think I am going to do the choir for church next week. Yesterday I went to the library and I even found some great resources for my research. Coming back form mass however I decided to sit down and get some ipod done. Well, this consumes my night until now. I finally figured out that for the moment all I need to do is go get a usb extension cord. It was frustrating though, and apple was certainly no help. Moral lesson though, don’t waste your time with technology, at least not when you have better things to do. It is good living here. I have a great appt and it def. looks a little more alive now that I have a plant and some records. I start school on Monday and will be gone all weekend on retreat in Burlingame.

Day 2 01/25/05
I am here in Berkeeley. Crazy huh? I have moved into a temporary appartement until another girl moves out of the community I was in. It is nice though, a studio apt. with power that works, a kitchen, a bathroom and a walk in closet. The windows dont hold in any of the heat though and I am facing onto a busy street. Last night was one of the coldest night I have ever slept through. It can be evenly matched with staying in the mountain refuge when I was visiting St. Martin de Canigou. Then I only had a sheet and I found some blankets that I used hesitantly and later go a skin thing from it. Gross. I only came here with two suitcases and certainly dont have enough to make the place look lived in, but its cozy. I am feeling that introspective side of me more than ever right now. It is weird to live alone, but heck, I am doing it! I even fixed the toilet last night. I shopped yesterday too and saved 46$ with the safeway club card. My comp is out of use though. I forgot the AC power cord at home and I just realized I had 30 more minutes left on it. Thus, there has been no music for the past 2 days except for what I sing. No typing, no email, nothing I just came back from eating with a few of the people I will be living in community with. They all see real nice and were informing me that as a layman who is single at the JSTB I am a rare commodity. I miss home, but once I get a cell phone I actually will be able to call there. My iPod is coming next week too. I hope that there is enough money in my bank account. I think I am going to fit in here. I hope so. I also hope that living on my own wont just mean that I will sleep all the time. I already took 2 naps today, well, one real nap and one nap where I tried to, but it didnt happen. It is only 8:32 and I already want to get in bed. I am trying to motivate myself to get some reading done. Well, I better check off my computer before it dies completely on me.

Songs: here I go again- Poision, I am on my way- Cat stevens
Mood: upset stomach, tense neck, pre flight jitters, anticipation, nervous wreck
Here we go again. I am writing this blog from the Portland Airport, on my way to Berkeley. I dont know why, but I feel very nervous. Last night I actually was feeling sick. It might have just been from a lack of sleep though. I was indeed up till 4 in the morn the night before. What a time it was. I got to hang out with mel again (who is way cool). I was at home, ready to go to bed when I telephoned PDT to hear how many guys had signed onto the house. 19 guys yesterday!! 19 guys on the first night. This was epic! I got into the car at 11 AM and drove down. What a party it was. Now I am here at PDX surrounded by fog. I cant see whats outside. What a way to start a trip. I now feel obliged to make some symbolic connection between the weather outside and my coming semester at Berkeley. What a religious studies major I am. As I looked out searchingly into the fog, I felt my soul also reaching out, trying to make some sense of this ambiguous future, I am putting one foot in front of the other, but what does it mean? Where am I going, who will I become? etc. I could probably do more of that, but I dont want to become sicker than I already feel. Well, I dont know if any one will be these, but I will miss you all. Here I am on my to board the plane to the future (echo echo)
