Sitting by the side of the road, helping children practice their broken english, while waiting for some form of transport, any form of transport to take me the 7 k to get to the junction were I could catch a bus to take me back to town brought back muscle memory of patience from my year long jaunt in africa. Taking the communal, 3 wheeled auto-rickshod over intermittently gravel, rocky and paved roads, bouncing up and down, hanging on to the ceiling so i wouldn't fall out the back brought different, more painful memories to my muscles.
Also, true to my travel experiences, i've already lost my hat!
Follow the link to see a video from a taxi ride in Chennai. It captures a typical experience of travel and traffic that can't be put into words
